Free Business Listings UK – Ready to Submit
We have compiled a list of all of the best directories in the UK, with most allowing free business listings.
Local SEO signals, including NAP (Name, Address, Phone Number) citations, are a big part of local SEO success on Google. If you have a lot of NAP citations that are all exactly the same then this shows Google that you’re a legitimate business based in the place you say you are.
Most of these are free business directories, but there will be some paid ones included if they’re good quality. Directories are ordered by their Ahrefs DR (domain rank) for your convenience. I’d recommend submitting your business to a handful of these directories each week until you’re listed on all of them. Be consistent with your business name, address and phone number.
Tips for Effectively Using Business Directories
1. Utilise Local Directories
As well as submitting your business in general UK directories like those above, most areas in the UK have their own directories. Just type into Google “Liverpool business directory”, or similar, and you should find a bunch of them.
2. Consistent NAP Citations
When you list your business on directories it’s important to ensure that your NAP citations are as consistent as possible across all of them as Google looks at these to verify that your business actually exists with correct contact information.
Try using the Yext Business Scan to check the accuracy, and consistency of your online business listings.

UK Business Directory FAQ
A business directory is essentially an index of businesses. They're available both online and offline, but within SEO we refer to online directories that allow free uk business listings. They enable business owners to submit their business containing a NAP citation (name, address, phone number) as well as other useful business information such as website URL, opening times, and more.
The majority of business directories in the UK are completely free directories. You simply submit your information and they're usually reviewed by an editor for accuracy before going live. Some directories will try to charge you for upgraded listings, but we don't recommend these as they're rarely useful. This is where our UK business directory list comes in handy - we found all of the free ones for you.
The best quality business directories, at least in the eyes of Google and from an SEO value perspective, are those that review listings before they are published. Why? Simple, really, because business listings that are reviewed by editors are checked for quality and accuracy.
